Susan Rizzi, CFP®, co-founder of Greensboro-based Green Valley Wealth Management, presented “Best Practices for Business Success” during the October Financial Planning Association annual conference in Minneapolis. This was a follow up to her popular 2018 Chicago presentation “Lessons on Being Limitless at Every Career Stage”. In these sessions, fellow CFP® practitioners from all over the world shared best practices for getting started in financial planning, growing an established practice and transitioning out of the profession.
Susan has been a member of The Financial Planning Association for more than fourteen years. The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is the principal professional organization for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals, educators, financial services providers and students who seek advancement in a growing, dynamic profession. FPA supports high standards of professional competence, ethical conduct and clear, complete disclosure when serving clients.
“We always want to be innovators in our industry,” says Susan, “and the Financial Planning Association is a great forum to share ideas with like-minded colleagues.” After working as CFP® professionals for large firms, Susan and Phyllis Lancaster, CFP® co-founded Green Valley Wealth Management, Inc. in December 2011 to utilize new ideas and technologies for their clients. GVWM helps people transition into retirement using the latest technologies for portfolio management and optimal portfolio drawdown strategies. “Transitioning from earning income to drawing down income,” Susan says, “is a huge shift – like climbing down from Mt. Everest. I enjoy guiding clients through their transition and being their partner in retirement.”
